CSR Research Goals

FUNDAMENTAL AND APPLIED

We conduct fundamental and applied research on processes of differentiation based on age, class, ethnicity, gender, nationality, race, religion and sexuality from an interdisciplinary perspective.

A current Preliminary Study on Gender Relations in the Swiss Cultural Sector, co-funded by the Swiss Arts Council Pro Helvetia, examines gender relations in the Swiss cultural sector. It forms part of The Art of Intervention, a collaboration between the CSR and the University of Basel.

The book project "The Life of Beauty. Experiences, Locations, Methodologies", eds. Katyayani Dalmia, Dominique Grisard, Anne Kukuczka (in preparation for Seismo book series “Gender Issues”).

The project "Bedroom Cultures" (2019-2024) interrogates continuities and changes of intimacy in the digital age. Our aim is to get a better understanding of the paradoxical coexistence of on the one hand a persistence of stark inequalities in sexual practices between heterosexual men and women, and the hypervisibility and destigmatization of a plurality of sexual identifications, practices and places on the other.

The prospective empirical study "Digital Education, Community and Coalition Building by Young Female Cultural Producers Exposed to Antimuslim Racism in Switzerland" (2022-2025) is interested in the role of female cultural producers exposed to antimuslim racism and their tactics and practices of digital resistance, education and exchange.
